<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:blue'>Installing on XP Mode Virtual PC<br />
option of Windows 7 professional:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>After 3 weeks of trying to install on a virtual PC XP Mode,<br />
and getting into many issues such as limited virtual disk space, I decided just<br />
to take a chance and try installing E-Business R12 directly on Windows 7 64<br />
bit, which worked fine as outlined in this document.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal><![if !supportEmptyParas]>&nbsp;<![endif]><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:blue'>Security and spay removal software<br />
might interfere with the installation:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>First turn off your Norton Security Center, if you have one.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>In my case, to be safe I first disabled Internet connection<br />
on my HP Laptop by disabling my N card from Hardware manager, then disabled<br />
Norton and my Windows Defender.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal><![if !supportEmptyParas]>&nbsp;<![endif]><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:blue'>1) Create stage area:</span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Do not attempt to just run Rapidwiz straight out the DVD<br />
media or unzipped downloaded install files. The rapidwiz will just run for a<br />
while copying itself and the content of the start here DVD into temp on your C:<br />
drive and then it would die with error like</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>the script failed and returned status 1.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>You must have a staging area created by adautostg.pl , then<br />
from the staging are you execute rapidwiz.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>First download and install latest perl from<br />
http://www.perl.com which will install in C:\Perl64\bin</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Bounce/restart your computer.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I have the following drives:</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>F: is my DVD drive.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Put start here Disk of R12 Media into F:</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>From Dos I do as seen here:</p>

included in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005) in</span> &#8216;C:\VCPlus&#8217; &#8212; Make sure<br />
not to install VC++ in a directory that contains spaces.</p>

costs close to $250 on Amazon.</p>

<p class=MsoNormal>&#8216;Cygwin&#8217; did not work for my install, Rapidwiz kept on<br />
asking for tempmake or other shells that was not in this &#8216;Cygwin&#8217;.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Mks ToolKit and &#8216;Cygwin&#8217; are cshell and Unix command<br />
emulators that E-Business needs to run.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal><![if !supportEmptyParas]>&nbsp;<![endif]><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:blue'>9) Add<span style="mso-spacerun:<br />
yes">  </span>C:\mks\mksnt to the system path.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Right click on &quot;My Computer&quot; &gt; Properties &gt;<br />
Advanced &gt; Environment Variables &gt; PATH. 11) No JDK installation is<br />
required, JDK 5.0 (java version &quot;1.5.0_08&quot;) is bundled with Oracle<br />
Applications R12 installation.</p>

D:\Disk1\rapidwiz\jre\NT I can only see folder 1.6.0 there is no 1.5.0 and<br />
Rapidwise seems to be looking for 1.5.0</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I Google this and saw other users with the same problem and<br />
they had just copied the content of 1.6.0 into a 1.5.0 in<br />
\Disk1\rapidwiz\jre\NT </p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Here is what I did:</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I dumped the content of the install DVD start here to<br />
C:\stage on windows 7 and created a 1.5.0 folder in </p>
<p class=MsoNormal>D:\Disk1\rapidwiz\jre\NT </p>
<p class=MsoNormal>with what was in 1.5.0 and created a new DVD from this dump<br />
on C: and used the new DVD to install.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal><![if !supportEmptyParas]>&nbsp;<![endif]><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:blue'>Error: 3) <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>In step 1 of 5: Installing database stack:</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>After copying all the zip files rapidwize fails and I could<br />
see that it during database stack it tries to acquire 500 MB swap and it said 0<br />
available</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Also the log files says that adsvdlsn.cmd fails. Location of<br />
adsvdlsn.com: VIS ORACLE_HOME appsutil\install\host_name fails. </p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I run adsvdlsn.cmd just by it self and it fails because of<br />
tns being down. But at this stage there is not yet a database running.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:blue'>Fix:<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I created swap file called paging file in windows in C: and<br />
D: and set to initial extent 4605 MB Max 9210 MB by navigating to</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Right click my computer&#8211;&gt;Advance tab&#8211;&gt;Virtual<br />
Memory. It was previously set to be system managed.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I abort Current install of rapidwize cleaned temp in<br />
C:\Users\bobbya\AppData\Local\Temp and cleaned all in C:\oracle\VIS</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>Bounced and restart install rapidwiz</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>The rapidwiz install once restarted did pass the point of<br />
failure earlier about the swap space. And continued to step 2 of 5: Installing<br />
Oracle Applications.</p>

OUI from the start menu and navigate to Oracle just installed and start OUI and<br />
un-install, then make sure there is nothing in C:\oracle\VIS then clean<br />

oracle forum discussions where people suggest the solution is </p>
<p class=MsoNormal>To have an older version of cygwin. Or Having Visual Studio<br />
2005 Standard rather than express edition.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>I do not have Visual C++ standard and it is expensive, but I<br />
do have mks so I go ahead and clean up my failed install as described in step<br />
5, then I install mks and re-install R12.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal>The rapidwiz install re-started after I installed mks and<br />
all is progressing ok and this time it passed where it was failing and<br />
completed adrunais.cmd and went into step 4 of five and started running<br />
adrunat.cmd. adrunat.cmd runs close to 2 hours unzipping close to 1185 files.<br />
It run for another 2 hours, no error, installation successful. Total rapidwiz<br />
install 5 hours with Vision database.</p>

script. Wait 5 or 10 minutes, OAM (Oracle Application Manager) shows standard<br />
manager actived successfully and I am able to run concurrent requests.</p>
